For there to be light, you must first suffer the darkness.
The end came at me jagged and skewed like puzzle pieces to a game I didn’t know I was playing. There was a distinct method to the madness, every move propagated to force my hand, to lure me out of hiding with the sweet promise of finality. I took solace in knowing that something better waited for me on the other side, something as pure and deep as the ocean itself.
But there was no end in sight.
No peace to be found.
The end was only the beginning.
INIQUITOUS is the heart-pounding third installment in The Marked saga, a fast-paced YA paranormal romance that grapples with love, loss, and self-discovery in a unique supernatural world filled with vampires, witches, shifters, and angels. This book is part of a series and ends in a cliffhanger. INFERNAL (The Marked Book 4) will be available this summer 2017.

**Spoilers Ahead**I really was not expecting this series to be as well written as it is, and how great it is to go back remembering the days of Buffy. I couldn't get into Twilight and I couldn't get past the second chapter of the Sookie Stackhouse series. I still have no idea how Charlaine Harris made it on the New York Time's Bestseller List, but then so did Twilight. This series reminds me of Laurell K Hamilton's Anita Blake series before it became a sex infused nightmare. However, where LKH created a powerful female character in her first book, I don't look at Jemma that way and hoped she would become a character I loved. Jemma's weak scenes are pages long and her fight scenes where she finally does kick ass are only a page or two. They feel rushed and not very believable since I look at her as not being capable of taking on big bad vamps. I'm giving four stars because I couldn't put the books down. Storyline is great, main character needs major changes.
The only real qualms I have with the writing is once in awhile a ridiculous word pops up and makes me pause. It's enough to make me stop and think, why the hell didn't the author just say 'forgiving' instead of 'magnanimous.' The author's writing style is beautiful and fluid, but then she throws a wrench in it with a big word that isn't necessary, especially since seventeen year olds, let alone adults, do not speak like that. I'm educated and have never used 'magnanimous' in my life. I also hated when she used 'supper.' This is modern day, right? No one I've ever spoken to has ever said to me, we're having supper.
Lastly, and maybe this is because I'm way past being a YA, but I wish there were less Trace and Jemma scenes. They're hard to get through at times and I skim them over. I'm sick of the whole star crossed lover thing they have going on. I never did like Romeo and Juliet but I do remember being young and in love. I just wish there were less lovey dovey crap about them talking about their forever love. We get it. I'm so glad he's Lucifer now. I want to see more fight scenes and action, see Jemma more of warrior than an infatuated love sick puppy.
Overall, I was completely surprised that I started reading the first book randomly and couldn't put it down. I can't wait to read more of what the author has in store. I highly recommend.

Iniquitous A Dark Paranormal Romance The Marked Book 3 eBook Bianca Scardoni Reviews
I loved books 1 and 2 of this series. I will tell you why I didn't finish this book and here come the spoilers. The heroine is imprisoned by Engel for at least the first third of the book (which is where I stopped and every time I decided to give it another chance, I'd stop again annoyed).
I also was disappointed that somehow she decided to form a blood bond with Dominic to avoid bonding with Engel. What upsets me about that is that she is supposed to be with Trace. Where the hell is Trace in this book - he's nowhere to be found in the first third.
The writing cliche that bothered me the most is that Dominic always calls Jemma "Angel". Always. It seems contrived and inauthentic.
I gave this two stars because overall the author writes well. Otherwise it would have been 1 star. I wish I could return it. Save your time and money.
I have read all the vampire boss I can find and usually the female lead is too girly, says stupid things, and the writing is corny. But this series is AMAZING!!!! I mean, the heroine has her dumb moments but God does it get made up for by the amazing writing. I am in LOVE with Dominic. Let me tell you, you won't be able to put these books down! I am counting down the days to get book four.... literally!
Pros
Attractive lead characters (Dominic! LOL)
Great writing
Great story line that leaves you on the edge
I have both cried and laughed reading these
Cons Only two (which is always the same for me)
The lead *good* guy is too bossy in a jealous boyfriend kind of way.. She's an adult, he's not her father, jeez.
And the heroine says some silly things in serious situations that I have a hard time setting as something anyone would realistically say at that moment, or any moment sometimes. Lol but those are just pet peeves of mine.
This series, every book is a 10 out of 10, and that is RARE. Especially coming from me. It's been years since I read a vampire novel that I really fell into the world and feel in love with the characters. Not since I found the Anita Blake serious about 10 years ago. And these are far more attractive to me, I mean really, you can't beat Dominic! Just the right amount of dark, dominant, and sweet. I love it! <3 can't wait for 4!!!!!!
I'm going to overlook that Bianca left this on another crazy cliffhanger, because the rest of the story is so good. To be honest, this is kind of just something that I've come to expect from authors writing "series" in paranormal romance. These new "series" more come across to me as one really long plotline, broken up into multiple installments, as opposed to multiple, complete stories all within the same universe with the same main characters (what I would deem an "old school series"). Some readers don't like one version or the other, I've come to accept that both have their place.
For this piece in particular, Bianca has further swayed my preference to our "anti-hero" Dominic. To be honest, Trace always seemed juvenile and controlling (though, all the guys share the latter flaw to some degree or another). I really liked the interaction we got to see between Jemma and Dom. And then later between Trace and the other characters. To be honest, I think Gabriel's inclusion seems a little forced. He always was a play-by-the-rules kind of guy and I'm yet to see a good enough reason why he would change all of that for Jemma. THEY don't have a history. Jemma's sister and Gabriel do.
It was nice that, while MOST of the story took place in a new place with relatively new characters there was still plenty of connections to our characters' past and families. So you don't feel completely disconnected.
There's some really poetic writing in this book in parts. Dominic's "confession" in the later part of the book is heart-wrenchingly well done.
All in all, I'd say this is a great third installment and I can't wait for the next piece.
